Holding Water / Holding Time
Description
These three flowers are cut from a former water tank that once belonged to the Holmes a Court family, before going on to work a farm in Greenvale, Melbourne — and eventually being left to sit, unused, in a paddock.
That’s where their story paused.
And where this one began.
Each flower has been hand cut from the tank using a plasma cutter, with the shapes drawn directly from the sections they came out of. The curves in the petals aren’t forced or reworked — they’re the original form of the tank itself, simply revealed and reoriented.
The surface carries just as much history.
What was once a white finish has weathered over time, breaking down into soft rust tones that run in natural drip lines across both sides of the steel. It’s no longer a clean white — it’s layered, marked, and full of character.
Each piece has been individually composed, giving them their own stance and presence, while still sharing the same past.
They’ve held water.
Now they hold time.
