Blue Gums on the Yarra
Description
A new collaborative wall piece from reclaimed steel and glass.
Tim sculpts these branches in a reclaimed steel ring and then hand cuts the gum leaves from reclaimed sheet steel with the plasma cutter.
The hand cut leaves then form the base for the glass leaves that glass artist Rob Hayley individually cuts before a specialised glaze is mixed and painted onto the glass and then each leaf is slumped in the kiln.
Rob’s detailing on these glass leaves beautifully compliment the rusty earthiness of the reclaimed steel as a true reflection of what we are surrounded by when in the Australian bush.
The detail on this piece is set award in the frame which gives it a lovely depth and will cast a nice shadow in the right light.
