Bells have been used to grab attention for over 5000 years, at least that’s what the earliest archeological evidence shows.
They can represent beginnings and endings, a call to order, or even a command or a warning.
In the art world during an exhibition, a bell is often rung to signify the sale of a piece. Maybe that’s why artists like bells so much!
This bell is made from 100% reclaimed material and uses an old heavy gas bottle as the bell itself.
What I love about these old bottles is that if its done properly you get such a beautiful very long lasting ring from them.
This bell takes it a step further. Because of the design after the wheel has been turned and the bell has rung the internal donger goes on to tap the side again randomly and more gently which keeps that lovely resonance going for longer than you would think.
This sculptural bell would be great in many places but I imagine it on a bit of property where you would use it to get the kids to come inside or perhaps to get campers attention when a meal is ready or a program is about to start.
