Tread Designs: Metal Custom Fire Pits Made in Melbourne
Tread Sculptures is a metal workshop and gallery on the edge of Melbourne that specialises in reclaimed steel garden art. These are some of our 2021 and 2022 fire pits but we are always evolving and building new shapes and custom designs. We also have a range of sculptural wood storage to make your woodpile as attractive as possible. See current work for sale.
The Love of Melbourne
A metal fire pit and light sculpture collaboration with Linda MacAulay.
Cutting structure takes so much more skill and concentration than a flowing landscape. We are really pleased with the result but it will be quite a while before Linda gets over the trauma! From 100% reclaimed material and taking on more life and character as it ages.
The Bowtell
A great stand-around party fire pit and a flat table top when not in use.
Why just have a metal fire-pit when you can have a sculpture and an outdoor coffee table at the same time. We love the way the flickering flames throw light and shadow onto the steel fins.
Serenity Fire Pit
Handmade reclaimed metal fire pit ideal for any outdoor space.
The new metal Serenity Fire Pit is a good example of how cold hard steel can be presented in a way that is warm and soft.
Wildflower Fire Pit
Hand-cut Australian wildflower metal fire pit.
This bespoke metal fire pit has five different Australian wildflowers cut into it by hand and is made from 100% reclaimed material including a decommissioned gas tank, excavator and gearbox parts. It comes with a flat lid.
Flickering Flowers Fire Pit
Small-sized metal fire pit made from secondhand materials.
A new hand cut metal fire pit from 100% reclaimed material. A design from doodling on holidays.
Gothic Fire Pit
A few years ago this steel vessel was created new by a fabricator for a client who wanted a large steel version of the old fashioned timber ashtray. Pretty quirky hey!
The project stalled and then I bought it and have held onto it for a couple of years whilst waiting for the right inspiration. I’m so pleased with how it’s finished up. It’s an absolute one off!
Space Pod
Metal firepit from 100% reclaimed material.
The ‘Space Pod’ gives a wonderful illusion of floating on air.
Starry Night
This sculptural collaboration with the ever talented Linda MacAulay Artist is not just any fire pit it’s truly a one off work of art.
A fire pit in winter, a light sculpture in summer and an outdoor coffee table all year round. The base will rust and blend in and it’s 100% reclaimed material.
Flickering Shadows
A commissioned collaboration with a hand cut design by Linda MacAulay with 100% reclaimed material.
A unique, hand-cut fire sculpture made of recycled materials
Renewal
An absolute one off designed and plasma cut by hand by Nillumbik artist Linda MacAulay.
Made with 100% reclaimed material this can be used as a fire or as a light sculpture or both. Fire in winter, light sculpture in summer.
Rings of Saturn
I love the way reclaimed material leads me down paths of discovery.
In this one piece there is material from five different sources and three other sculptural pieces. The hemisphere lid will sit as a wind guard and heat reflector in four positions.
Circles of Fire
Very pleased with the airflow of this handmade metal firepit
It’s a big one with reclaimed 900mm spun vessels set in 1.8meter diameter steel rings.
Rings of Fire
Why choose between a metal fire pit and a sculpture if you can have both.
This metal fire pit which is made entirely of recycled materials can be utilised as both a fire and a garden installation.
