Description
In ancient near eastern cosmology, the firmament signified a cosmic barrier that separated the heavenly waters above from the Earth below.
In biblical cosmology, the firmament is the vast solid dome created by God during the Genesis creation narrative to divide the primal sea into upper and lower portions so that the dry land could appear.
The stainless steel spinning’s and rolled mild steel ring are all reclaimed from industry cut and sculpted into a contrasting frame.
The handmade kiln fired glass rondel by Rob Hayley is made through a complex process of different glasses heated at specific temperatures to liquify and form the pool. It is almost a lost art that requires a very specific set of skills and knowledge.
