Gin Clear
Description
The first completed sculpture for 2025.
As a fly fisherman we use the expression “Gin Clear” to describe mountain river water often in NZ and Tasmania that is ultra clear and at times has a blue tinge like the colour of Bombay Sapphire gin.
Kiln Casting glass like this is very technical and Rob has used over 100 slithers of glass stacked together on their side before being fired in the kiln.
The beauty of this method is that light can travel down individual pieces of glass highlighting the ends.
The materials used in this piece are 100% reclaimed.
